Frequency healing is a type of alternative medicine that was discovered in the early 20th century. It is based on the concept that everything has a natural rate of vibration and radiates a frequency known as a signature frequency or resonance. The different parts of the human body, such as organs, bones, muscles, thoughts, and emotions, each have a signature frequency, as do bacteria, viruses, and diseases. In frequency healing, vibration is used to try and restore the body’s energetic and physical equilibrium necessary for good health. Frequency healing works by either increasing healthy frequencies or by interfering with unwanted frequencies, such as those emitted by disease, viruses, or bacteria.

The first person who discovered frequency healing was Dr. Albert Abrams, a medical doctor who practiced in the United States. He realized that when he tapped patients’ abdomens in a certain spot as part of a medical exam, different illnesses elicited different sounds. Dr. Abrams eventually learned to diagnose illness accurately by the type of sound made by thumping the abdomen. Through his research he devised a system of classifying each illness numerically. He invented several electrical devices using electrodes, potentiometers, copper wire, and resistors that he claimed could diagnose illness and then cure it by emitting the correct frequency.

While Dr. Abrams worked with sound frequencies, Royal Raymond Rife made similar discoveries using light for frequency healing. He invented a microscope that he claimed could help him identify microorganisms by the colors of light that they emitted. Rife discovered that he could kill viruses and bacteria by subjecting them to surges of light. His next invention was the Rife frequency generator, which propagated radio frequencies that had the same light resonance as pathogens. He was able to kill the microbes using the proper frequency of radio waves.

There are other methods of frequency healing that don’t require any electrical devices, radio waves, or light. Many believe that the tones generated by quartz crystal singing bowls have healing qualities. Quartz is made of silica, and the cells in the human body also contain silica. Different sizes and compositions of singing bowls play different notes, and the correct note may be beneficial for someone who is in need of healing. Some believe that the pure tone that is created by dragging a mallet around the outside of a singing bowl creates a resonance within the cells of the body that can promote emotional and physical healing.
