What is Cardio B?

Updated: Mar 03, 2024

Cardio B is a natural health supplement manufactured by the Ortho Molecular Products Company. The capsules contain ingredients such as folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin B6, and Betaine. These natural health supplements are meant to improve a person's cardiovascular health by boosting the amount of vitamins that affect the heart and bloodstream. Specifically, they are said to help lower blood pressure and mitigate the damaging effects of homocysteine in the bloodstream.

Ayurvedic, or traditional Indian, medicine often uses folic acid and B vitamins to keep the cardiovascular system healthy. This is why Cardio B is considered a natural health supplement. The pills are available online without a prescription. People who have been diagnosed with high blood pressure are candidates for these supplements, but should always consult a physician before starting any treatment. Having high blood pressure can be dangerous, as it may damage blood vessels over time.

Vitamins such as B12 and B6 are necessary for optimal health. People who eat a vegetarian diet may lack B vitamins in their diets since these nutrients are mostly found in meat products. Elderly individuals may also lack these important vitamins. Folic acid reduces homocysteine levels, which is an amino acid that is found in the blood. Betaine, also called trimethylglycine (TMG), converts homocysteine to methionine, which helps reduce the overall homocysteine level in the bloodstream. Too much homocysteine flowing in a person's bloodstream can cause cardiovascular problems, such as coronary heart disease, vascular diseases, and strokes.

There are 50 milligrams of Vitamin B6 in each supplement pill, as well as 5 milligrams of folic acid, 1 milligram of B12, and 500 milligrams of TMG. Cardio B is meant to be ingested with a meal each day, as directed by a physician. The recommended dosage is usually one capsule per day. This product is sold in three differently-sized packages of either 60, 90, or 120 capsules.

These homocysteine-lowering supplements do not contain any artificial flavors, colors, soy, egg, dairy, peanuts, corn, or gluten, so people with these allergies can take the pills. Some other inert ingredients in Cardio B pills include silicon dioxide, ascorbyl palmitate, magnesium stearate and microcrystalline cellulose.

Cardio B is intended to supplement a person's regular medical prescriptions, not replace them. This cardiovascular health supplement has not been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take these pills. People who have low blood pressure or who are over 70 years of age should consult a physician before taking Cardio B.
