What is Synephrine?

The drug synephrine is a common medicine that is used for weight loss. Although it is used by a large number of people, its effectiveness has yet to be conclusively proven. Synephrine comes from a type of citrus fruit and is sometimes known as bitter orange. Usually the drug is taken orally although it can also be injected in certain situations. Some of the claims suggest synephrine can increase a person’s energy, allow for greater weight loss and increase body temperature.

Synephrine is an adrenergic amine drug that is designed to stimulate certain receptors in the body. This is claimed to increase the body’s metabolism and make it easier for someone to lose weight. The drug also releases adrenaline which is thought to help break down certain types of fat in the body.

The recommended dose of the drug varies depending on the exact pill taken. A single dose is usually anywhere up to 30 mg although it can be much less than this. For medical use the drug may be used in doses up to 100 mg although it is often injected in this case.

There are several potential side effects to taking synephrine. Some diet pills come with a mix of the drug along with other substances such as caffeine and anti inflammatory medicine. This has been reported to cause a number of potential problems including a rise in blood pressure and an increased risk of strokes.

Synephrine has become more popular recent years due to another popular weight loss drug being banned. The drug ephedrine is no longer legally sold in many countries due to the health risks that are associated with taking it. It has been found that synephrine is very similar to ephedrine in many ways and people who take it often show similar side effects. Companies who sell the drug are thought to be exploiting a loop-hole that allows them to sell a drug that’s similar to the banned substance.

Cardiac arrhythmias may occur in some people who take synephrine.

Some side effects of ephedrine that are commonly seen among people who take synephrine include acne, confusion, insomnia and nausea. There are also a number of cardiovascular diseases and problems such as arrhythmias that are thought to be caused by the drug. For this reason a person looking to take any weight loss drug should always talk to his or her doctor. Some people may be more at risk to taking certain drugs than others.
